About Me

Formerly a teacher at Eton College and other leading schools, I now work as a full-time private tutor for ambitious students from families who highly value education beyond just exam success.

My students span the UK, US, China, Hong Kong and UAE. Many have won places or scholarships at schools such as Eton, Harrow, Westminster, St Paul’s, Winchester, Wycombe Abbey, CLC and top-tier US colleges and UK universities.

I bring not just subject expertise but the academic and cultural insight of someone who has taught inside the elite education system. Having marked admissions exams, I know exactly what top schools and universities are looking for when awarding students places.

My Background

After winning a scholarship to Ipswich School, I went on to score 99% for a Distinction in my Advanced Extension Award in English and 3 A grades at A level in English, History and Classics — all over 90%.

I then graduated with a First from University College London in 2007 (when it was ranked first for English), achieving 95% for my dissertation on 19th-century American literature.

Out of a debt of gratitude to my own teachers, my goal for my students is not only success in their exams but a lifelong love of literature and learning.

‘I was fortunate enough to study under Will Knowland’s tutelage for a brief time, during which he changed the whole course of my education. He taught me for just two weeks, but in that time he persuaded me that studying what I wanted where I wanted was a goal within my reach.’
